    Valerie holds a Master in Biomedical Sciences (2005) and a PhD degree (2011) from the KU Leuven (Belgium). After her master thesis, she joined the group of Prof. Verfaillie at the Stem Cell Institute in Minneapolis (USA) and continued her PhD research in the Stem Cell Institute Leuven (SCIL) when the group moved back to Belgium. She has extensive experience in the isolation and characterization of several adult stromal stem cell populations.  After her PhD, she continued to work at SCIL on an industrial collaborative project with ReGenesys to investigate the use of stromal stem cells in patients with bone marrow failure. In 2015, she joined ReGenesys as a Clinical Development Scientist in the field of hematology/transplantation.

    Bart holds a PhD in Biosciences from the Radboud University Nijmegen, The Netherlands. He has a strong background in mesenchymal stem cell research with a focus on microarray analysis of differentiating osteoblasts. He extended his knowledge on transcriptomics and bone research during a predoctoral fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. He worked as a postdoc at Wageningen University, The Netherlands, where he studied the influence of nutritional factors on mesenchymal stem cell differentiation.

    In 2010 I started my work as a senior scientist at ReGenesys. My main responsibility is to supervise a project that aims to cultivate MultiStem® under xeno-free (serum-free) conditions. Besides this project, I perform and supervise research on mesenchymal stem cell characteristics. This is my first job in a company. I experience the working in a young, small, but growing company which develops a stem cell product for clinical purposes, both as a challenge and a great opportunity; since I truly believe that stem cell based therapies will be a major breakthrough in medical sciences in the future. This feeling makes us a strong and driven team, and we really feel that we can make a significant contribution to improve human health.

    I graduated at the University of Ghent as a Master of Bioscience Engineering, Cell and Gene biotechnology. I have 3 years experience at an academic immunology and stem cells lab and 4 years at a private company working on osteoarthritis.
    At the beginning of 2010 I started working at ReGenesys, picking up where I left it at the University of Ghent, working with stem cells and building towards a clinical product.

    Senior Scientist - Head of Animal Health

    Dr. Bogaerts finished her master in Biology (Animal Physiology) at the Catholic University of Leuven (KUL) in 2006. That year she was awarded for best master thesis 2005-2006 from the alumni association of Biology at KUL. Thereafter, she received a PhD grant from the Scientific Research Foundation Flanders (FWO Flanders) for performing doctoral research and obtained her PhD in May 2010. She worked as post-doctoral researcher at the KUL before starting to work at ReGenesys in March 2011. She was assigned as scientist, responsible for study design and data analysis of proteomics and genomics projects. Passionate for horses and animals overall, she inspired the Animal Health Program. She currently leads this program as senior scientist, Head Animal Health.
